About us
Stylish winery and wine bar
Cathedral Mountain Vineyard is planted in the high desert mountains, 18 miles south of Alpine, Texas. We chose this area for its relentless sun, cool nights, and mineral-rich, rocky, volcanic soil — conditions that are well suited to the Spanish and Rhone-inspired wines we wanted to grow. We planted 7,000 vines in April of 2004; the bulk of the vines are Tempranillo and Syrah, with some Grenache, Petite Sirah and Mourvédre for blending. We also have a fair amount of Cabernet Sauvignon and a bit of Cabernet Franc. The first crop was harvested in 2006. The powerful, savory, and rich wines made the wait worthwhile.
